From her roots in public service to her vision for a better city — learn what drives Tishaura to lead.
Tishaura was born and raised in this city. Growing up in a working-class family, she learned the values of hard work, community, and standing up for what's right.
After earning her degree in Public Policy from State University, she returned home to serve as a community organizer, fighting for affordable housing, better schools, and safer neighborhoods.
She served two terms on the City Council, where she authored landmark legislation on police accountability, small business support, and environmental justice. Her leadership earned her the respect of colleagues on both sides of the aisle.
Now, Tishaura is running for Mayor to continue that work — on a bigger scale — with a bold vision that puts people first.
"I'm running because I believe our best days are ahead of us. Together, we can build a city where every family has a safe home, a good job, and a bright future."
